“Our Hispanic children deserve the same chance that everybody else has to accomplish a higher education. I strongly support and embrace this Manifesto.”

David Alberto Espinoza

"¡Felicidades!"

Laura A. Mora

"This will set the goal in motion. Good will always prevails!"

Melissa Myers

“Well said”

Rachel Moreno

“I believe that what is in the manifesto is what we as Latinos should want for our educational system. The Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition's mission is to continue the struggle for equitable education opportunities for our Latino children. We believe that the segregated system stems from the White families fleeing the schools where there are large number of brown children. We need to start looking at other means to make our existing schools do a better job for our children. We have one public education system and as Latino parents collectively we have to fix it for our kids!”

Richard L. García

“Beautiful -- stirring -- made my heart sing!”

Alice J. Patterson

“Our children deserve a quality education that will prepare them for their future. As American citizens, we must place education as a top priority and stop paying it lip service. An educational system must be put in place that will serve all children and families. As Hispanics, we must make our voices heard and work together for this cause. Orgullosa de ser afiliada a CREO."

Laura Ortiz

"I totally agree!!!!!"

Anita Vergara

"Thank you for making Latinos aware of the education crisis in America. Our Latino children are not receiving the quality education they deserve and that will help them be successful in life."

Samuel Lopez

"Gracias por este apoyo tan maravilloso y tan necesitado".

Mirta L. Gonzalez

"It is time for Hispanics to come out of the shadows, yet, in order for us to be a cohesive and strong force, education is the key to our success. Strength in numbers is a good thing, but strength in numbers and intellect is so much more powerful."

Perla Fernandez

"I agree with the spirit of this manifesto and gladly support it."

Socorro D. Herrera

"Apoyo este manifiesto para un mejorar la educación.  Gracias."

Rosa Maria Roque

"¡Arriba y adelante!"

David Alberto Espinoza-Tijerina

"Thank you for writing this powerful and eloquent document. I pray that Hispanic parents everywhere will be moved to action by this stirring Manifesto. Blessings."

Marta L. Guevara

"José Hernandez said in the Argentinian classic "Martin Fierro,"  "Los Hermanos sean unidos porque esa es la ley primera, porque si entre ellos se pelean, se los devoran los de afuera."  "Brothers be united, because that's the primary law, if there is fighting amongst themselves, outsiders will devour them."

Lorenzo A. Canizares

"I am very glad to hear that Latinos are finally able to speak up for what is right. Thank you!"

Briana M. Santiago Fortune

"Thanks for all the work in putting it together."

Bob Poandl

"The only true escape from poverty and prejudice is education. Parents must have the right to choose the best education for their children without any penalty. Politicians will only say, and do what they think will increase votes for them."

Stanley L. Culotta

"Seek ways to help in the education of parents to become legal in this country so that their children have a chance to have this education."

Marsha R. Buckles

"This is a movement that shall not be stopped but noticed by all."

Daniel N. Paz

"I fullheartedly agree that all citizens should be treated equally. As long as all immigants are legal, I have no problem sharing my rights and freedoms with them."

Eric M. Johnson

"Everyone is equal. I hope for an easier immigration process soon."

Jason Filer

"This is powerful document that will benefit all children who have been denied educational democracy."

Nona Mitchell Richardson

Phillip M. Reyes

"It seems like a very worthy cause for Hispanics. Although I'm not Hispanic, I believe in equitable education for all. Education is the foundation for everyone in enriching their lives.  Buena suerte."

Daniel A. Strayer Professor of Spanish University of Saint Francis

"Thank you so much for providing us with the opportunity to sign a very well written manifesto free from political rant and that defends the rights of the family."

Vicente Lozano III

"Thank you for this tremendous opportunity. God Bless!

Isabel Lemus

"I am a counselor in a great school district. I struggled most of my life to reach to this level and know if I was a student in a better school I would have been better prepared for college. We all deserve that equal and quality educational opportunity."

Yesenia

"Arriba CREO, I want to be part of this movement!!! I am a school teacher and I believe most strongly in the education of our Hispanic youth."

Olga Arredondo

I am not Hispanic. I did, however, grow up in a Puerto Rican neighborhood in Brooklyn, which has endowed me with lifelong Spanish and “Newyorican” fluency. If you would like support from a English Protestant trained by the United Farm Workers and committed to quality public education provided by the school and private sector -- district, religious, independent, charter, childcare, cross-district, home -- of parents' choice; then please count me in.
PS: I love the manifesto.

John S. Gardner

I definitely agree with the national movement to demand equal educational opportunities to our children.

Lydia Lara Gokool

In addition to supporting school choice, we should promote the idea that Hispanics don’t want to be so dependant on government but rather on our own productivity and resources.

Francisco Framil

An immigrant from Guatemala, I grew up in the Chicago area and was fortunate to have family support and the opportunity to attend good schools. Now as a father, I seek the same or better opportunities for my children. I have worked hard to succeed in my life and work towards instilling the same work ethics in my children so that they will value education and contribute to the betterment of their community and country.

Erick Villamar

I was born in a small Central American country. Education was my ticket out from poverty. I am now a proud parent of two bilingual children. They are proud Americans, but also proud of their heritage, roots and culture. I want my children to be leaders with the power of knowledge. I work hard as a professional assisting other parents of Hispanic background. I thank God everyday for sharing my knowledge and passion towards educating, and informing parents of their choices, options and rights. I support the cause Hispanic CREO stands for.

Georgina M. Portillo-Foster

I am a counselor in a great school district. I struggled most of my life to reach this level and know if I was a student in a better school I would have been better prepared for college. We all deserve that equal an quality educational opportunity.

Yesenia Rivera

Let us not believe the old lie that "Hispanics don't understand..so let us give them education at their level"...but instead change the system whereby they will be better prepared to be able to grasp a higher education. God created us all equal...He placed the potential in us let us be humble enough to search our hearts and seek to help our brother whereby the whole nation will be made stronger.

Gloria L. Rivera

We must loudly proclaim our desperate need for school choice!

Sandy Aguirre Mayer

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If this country is to be strong, then ALL MUST receive a QUALITY education. The idea of "no child left behind" is exceedingly important but in the mouths of our current political leadership it is meaningless. We need to "say what we mean and mean what we say." All are created equal...with rights and responsibilities.

Marie M. Griffin

Keep fighting on behalf of our children and our Hispanic culture. Mom, college grad and Hispanic business owner.

Gina Marie Scarpa García

As a special education school social worker, and I see a greater need to have Hispanic parents voice their choice of school and treatments for their special needs child.

Brenda J. Velez

The Florida Consortium of Charter Schools support School Choice for all parents including American Hispanic Parents who desire equal educational opportunity for their children.

Robert Haag

I believe we should be able to choose where our children should go to school and not have to put them where the city makes us.

Lily Rivera

I am 200 percent for school choice. This is still public education but with school choice the parents decide where the public dollars go. The school (administrators and teachers) will need to continuously satisfy the parents on the whole. In any case, they will know if they are capable of teaching students within the limits of competitive market place that is performance oriented.

Peter R. Bossard

Thank you for the opportunity to sign this Manifesto. Though I am not Hispanic, I believe that together we make up a larger community, by denigrating any member of that community only drives the community down as a whole. We all need equality and we all need it NOW!

Steven M. Krohn

I'm all for this-but it isn't enough. We need to find ways to keep Hispanic children in school until they graduate. Additionally, we need to graduate as many of these kids from college and grad schools. Education is the key to everything! The lack of support at home due to the stresses of poverty should not be given as an excuse. The liberals give you moral relativism: "If you had their troubles your kids would be dropping out and having babies too." Possibly, but so what? That approach has already proven to be a dead end. Hispanic parents and family members need to stand up for what works: Who else can really deliver the message?

Roger Rosenberg

Keep up the great work and together we will make a difference for our children when it counts the most NOW!

Genaro Lopez

Thank you for the opportunity to sign this! I believe that a key challenge for the Hispanic community, and the whole nation, is the creation of charter schools and other schools of choice that work demonstrably better than the current alternatives. The power of school choice is much greater when the alternative schools of choice are clearly better!

Bill Jackson

I strongly agree with this movement. Why should we have to send our children to a school only because it's in our district. If we are able to commute our children to other schools with no problems then why should the school system stop us? We need to take a stand "En la unión esta la fuerza".

Maria E. Cano

I am ready and willing to support this effort as I expect my children to graduate from a university of their choice!  ¡Viva la raza!

Eddie Carranza

These children are our future...let's give them a chance to succeed.

Gloria D. Santana

If we want America's future to be bright, we need to make sure that our children have an opportunity! Thank you for carrying out this initiative!!

Julieta Mendez

I hadn't heard before about this organization but you guys are doing very well and hope we start moving together in reaching important goals for our Latino community in this country. Congratulations!

Juan D. Picazo

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning.  You have 100 percent of my support.

Kaleem Caire

All parents should have the right to choose the school their child should attend!

Dora A. Gonzalez

School choice will benefit everyone of every background.

Sandy Smith

Betty

This is an important issue to address immediately!   Thank you.

Cristina Heinz

Nayeli Peralta

Thank you for your amazing work on behalf of our children. I so appreciate your leadership for us all on this issue.

Lisa G. Keegan

Having worked in the industry I understand and support equal access to a quality education for all.

Lisa M Patti

Pablo Ramiro Orellana

We need to have a choice and to pick the school that fits best with our children. thank you.

Tehani Lopez

We have to speak out about this great program. please go to the Hispanic radio stations and let them know about this. thank you!

Arelis Valentin

Teofilo Acosta

Please count on me for whatever is needed for our young people to have a better future!

Rosa D. Espinoza

This is long overdue. School choice is a powerful tool for improving education and giving children a real opportunity to advance and excel in a good environment.

Robin Ruiz

Betzy Castro

Thank you for your great work as you speak with one voice for all Hispanic children in the nation. Good luck in your endeavors as we raise the level of education for all those that are under-served in this great nation!

Diana Susi

Carmen I. Garay

Keep on moving foward!

Frank Delgado

¡En la unión esta la fuerza!  When we care for our children's education, we are investing in them in the present and future.  These are our future doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.  Our children's education is no one's responsibility but ours.  They need us to be their voice now.  We cannot let them down!!!  Gracias.

Mayra Díaz de Estefan

We need to voice our demands as Hispanics to get better education for our kids.

Arian F. Robaina

Every student has a right to a proper education! I firmly believe that because I am an undergraduate majoring in education.

Laura Barber

I am very happy for having the opportunity to read and sign this Grito in order to defend our right as a parent to choose what it's best for our children.

Ana Cardenas

All parents deserve the right to choose the school their child attends. Such choice will promote improvement in all schools.

Julia M Barrientos

By educating our youth we provide the future with positive citizens that will understand how to employ their gifts and talents in ways that will make our world a better place for everyone.

Susana G. Kiwan

Education should be high on everyone’s list. We must support our children for a higher and better education. This will keep them off the street and strive to be better leaders of the world.

Virginia Sherell Crapps

Arturo Bravo

We should all be involved in the movement for advancement within the Hispanic community

Carmen Noboa-Espinal

Our family has benefited greatly due to school choice, I would hate for someone out there not to have the choice like I did for my children. I see now, 8 years later what a great improve overall my children have made.

Valerie M. Hernandez

Hispanic families should have a choice in where their children are educated! Please make this happen!

Thomas Marsan

I support the school choice system. It is my right as a parent to choose the school I believe will benefit my children. As a parent is not only my duty and responsibility, but a basic civil right.

Dora Ramos Rodriguez Ramos

Our educational system is a shambles. And we must stand together to fix it.

Tony R. Uribe

Our children deserve the best opportunities available! Please help our youth to reach their goals and dreams.

Samuel L Barnes II

This is a terrific Grito that will hopefully lead to positive changes to expand educational opportunity.

Marc A Levin

Parents should have the right to choose between public, private or parochial schools for their children. It's the only way to improve our schools - through competition.

Liz Tait

I firmly believe that supporting equal educational opportunities for Hispanic youth is embedded in the best interests of this country's and our future's prosperity.

Brooke M Hewson

This is a time of tremendous growth and change for our nation! As our Hispanic community faces unprecedented challenge, Hispanic CREO has responded with an unprecedented demand for equity! Education is the great equalizer and remains the lifeline for our people’s success.

As one of the few Hispanic school superintendents in our country, I applaud Hispanic CREO for creating El Grito! This visionary declaration is an important, historic step towards ensuring that Hispanic kids are no longer imprisoned in failing schools, rather they should have the opportunity to achieve academic excellence in high performing schools.

Working in public schools every day, I have seen first-hand how apathetic teachers and uncaring principals often hurt Hispanic kids. I have seen how bright, hopeful kids can become paralyzed in failing schools, often living and dying based on their attendance zone. We simply cannot tolerate this injustice any longer.

Hispanic children should be allowed to escape failing schools and “choice” is often their only way out. Hispanic CREO has shown us the way – the question is who among us has the courage to stand alongside them right here – right now!

Liberio Bahena

This is very important for our nation, if we don't plug into the academic excellence of all our children our country will fail as a whole.

Mahaley Stewart Bowles

The statistics on Hispanic Education certainly indicate that we can do much better. In my opinion there is no reason why Latinos should not succeed at the same rate as others. Parent education and advocacy for what is in their own and child's best interest is a viable way to create change to the current system. What we have now is a system that devalues the home life of the student and refuses to recognize the inherent potential in each student. This approach is not good for the family, the student or the nation. The change CREO seeks is commendable and certainly achievable.

Fernando Martinez Delgadillo

When people know better, they do better. We have got to do a better job of educating our children and this is a great tool to continue in our struggle.

Daria Dillard Stone

This is long overdue. School choice is a powerful tool for improving education and giving children a real opportunity to advance and excel in a good environment.

Robin Ruiz

Everyone should get a chance to have a good education.

Eneida Garay

I am not Hispanic, but strongly support your efforts to improve our school systems and stop wasting our education system money. It would be nice if you had a website with prepared emails to send to our elected officials to help change our education system. Thanks.

Dan Spofford

Thank you for putting this effort together. We have too many people that say they speak for us that are ignoring the cirical education issues facing Hispanic youth. Either we act now and create a future with opportunities,or we silently watch as the United States becomes the nation with the largest number of indigent in the hemisphere.

Soon 6 of 10 teenagers will be either Hispanic or black, yet our higher education systems have been relatively quite in their role to collaborate with K-12 programs to ensure future college enrollment will be there and prepared. Thank you for letting parents like me voice our disgust and fustrations. I support your efforts.

Guillermo A. Martinez
